I'm so glad you're here!

About this blog...

Cancer or any serious health disease can be so isolating for people. I've heard many people say they keep it private for various reasons. But I believe in most instances, that only makes it worse. Sharing and connecting with others and building a support system is a cornerstone to fighting fear, isolation, building truth, and changing the stigma.  When we keep something in the dark, it will grow. Light has a way of illuminating truth and melting away the lies. So, I hope you find validation here to connect with your loved ones or build a group of support, to be bold, to be brave, and to thrive through it.

A little about me...

I'm a wife, mama, Jesus lover, and now, blood cancer warrior.  Life has generally been good in my 28 years of existence and I've been blessed in many ways. BUT change–and all kinds of changes–are sure to follow and that's what happened to me at 29 years old and 8 months postpartum. I was born and raised in northern New Jersey and always loved being outdoors, cooking and baking, dabbling in art, writing, reading, and–one of my personal favorites–gardening.  Getting my hands dirty and seeing my little fruits and vegetables grow has always brought me deep joy.  After graduating with a teaching degree focused on Special Education, I immediately began my career. Those 5 years of teaching were special and uniquely challenging due to the complex nature of teaching, but they are years I will always cherish.

I met my loving husband via eHarmony a few years ago, fell in love, and we were married shortly thereafter.  Enjoying marriage and keeping busy, in 2020 God blessed us with our bundle of joy, Emiliana Belle.  She has truly been the greatest gift in our lives. In 2021 though, my health changed.  And as they say, I began to feel "off.”  By the end of 2021 I received my lifesaving bone marrow transplant. This is my story. I hope that my story, experiences, and knowledge brings you validation, hope, and clarity in an extremely obscure health diagnosis of MDS.
